Amy Roloff is mourning the loss of her father, Gordon Knight, who has died at 97.

The Little People, Big World alum’s son Jacob Roloff confirmed the news in an Instagram post on Tuesday, October 27, revealing that his grandfather died three weeks earlier, on October 5.

“My grandpa passed away 3 weeks ago,” Jacob, 29, wrote alongside photos of Knight. “Haven’t necessarily slowed down enough to process that properly.”

Amy, 64, shared her grief in the post’s comments section, admitting that she’s “going to miss him lots too.”

“So many memories,” she wrote. “Never often enough to take all you four kids to see grandma and grandpa over the years. I’m happy you had a chance to go and visit grandpa with me as an adult. I hope each one of you will have a special fond memory of him.”

Amy shares Jacob and his siblings Jeremy Roloff, Zachary Roloff and Molly Roloff with her ex-husband, Matt Roloff.

In his tribute, Jacob reflected on childhood trips to visit his grandparents in Michigan.

“He may have intimidated me a bit, as grandpas can do, but he would smile and wink and you could feel softness,” he wrote. “He made us grandkids walking sticks, took us canoeing, and my only 2 times fishing were with him.”

Jacob added that Knight stayed active until the very end, noting he was “cleaning his muzzleloaders and driving his corvette 4 months ago.”

“I’m glad Mateo got to have some time up there with him,” he wrote of his 4-year-old son, Mateo, whom he shares with wife Isabel Rock.

Knight, who made occasional appearances on the TLC series, worked as a civil and structural engineer for Ford Motor Company for 30 years, according to his obituary.

In 2024, Amy wrote on Instagram, “I cherish each moment I get to have with you … Don’t let moments pass you by.”
