Rory McIlroy Reveals The Savage 5-Word Text Message Tiger Woods Sent Him After He Won The Masters
Rory McIlroy has revealed that Tiger Woods sent him a five-word text message after his Masters win last month.
McIlroy has finally captured the elusive Green Jacket, mounting a remarkable comeback to become just the sixth career Grand Slam golfer in the history of the sport, joining Woods in an exclusive club.
It’s been quite a start to the year for the Irishman, who joined host Jimmy Fallon on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ this week, where he would disclose Tiger’s message to him following his milestone achievement.
McIlroy told Fallon he received a text from Tiger reading: “Welcome to the club, kid.”
He went on to describe how “cool” a feeling it was, noting that there are only four Grand Slam winners who are still alive, with him and Woods the only ones who haven’t reached old age.

Rory McIlroy’s 2025 Masters win was hardly typical. He needed to get through a sudden-death playoff to beat Justin Rose, dropping a clutch birdie putt on the 18th hole that saw him sink to his knees in relief at having won his first green jacket.
He had come close to winning the tournament several times before, but his putting let him down in crucial moments. He ensured it didn’t cost him this time, and his elation was apparent for all to see.
That he got such a text from Tiger Woods must have made the achievement sweeter. After all, this is a man who hands out tampons…
