Dolly Parton’s Dollywood Overtakes Disney as America’s Favorite Theme Park!

Nestled in the foothills of Tennessee’s Great Smoky Mountains, Dollywood has quietly risen to prominence, surpassing even the most iconic names in the theme park world.

The park, co-founded by country legend Dolly Parton and Herschend Family Entertainment, has become a beloved destination that celebrates Appalachian culture and values through family-friendly entertainment. This year, Dollywood’s reputation reached new heights, taking the top spot as America’s favorite theme park.

Since opening in 1986, Dollywood has woven Dolly Parton’s musical legacy and personal passion for hospitality into every aspect of the park experience.

A Growing Trophy Case For Dollywood

Dollywood’s 2025 accolades come from some of the most respected organizations in the amusement park industry. The National Amusement Park Historical Association (NAPHA) named Dollywood the nation’s favorite theme park for the third consecutive year, edging out Disney World and Disneyland. NAPHA’s members are avid park enthusiasts who collectively have visited more than 130 parks worldwide, lending significant weight to their rankings.

Beyond guest satisfaction, Dollywood earned second place among the most beautiful amusement parks, narrowly trailing Busch Gardens Williamsburg. The recognition underscores the park’s dedication to maintaining its lush grounds and crafting an immersive Smoky Mountain setting. Additionally, the park dominated several Newsweek Readers’ Choice Awards, notably in the restaurant category, and was recognized as one of America’s Greatest Workplaces in entertainment—a rare honor for theme parks.

Susan Loveday, Dollywood’s Vice President of Human Resources, stressed the importance of their staff: “Dollywood’s hosts are what make this park special. We always strive to ensure they receive the care and support they deserve so they can take care of our guests in a world-class way.” She added that “while Dollywood has received many accolades for its guest experience, every award begins with a team of employees who love their workplace and are ready to provide exceptional hospitality.”

In addition to Newsweek recognition, Dollywood has earned top marks on USA TODAY 10BEST lists, Forbes’ List of America’s Best Midsize Employers, USA Today’s Top Workplaces, and Newsweek’s Greatest Workplaces for Women and America’s Greatest Workplaces for Gen Z.

With more than 50 rides and attractions across 165 acres, Dollywood continues to stand out in a competitive industry and has even kicked off over 100 changes and upgrades to mark its 40th season. Whether it’s thrilling roller coasters, award-winning entertainment, or an employee culture rooted in kindness, the park shows no signs of slowing down.
