Captain Kerry Titheradge is sharing the biggest misconception when it comes to filming Below Deck. Kerry has been captain since taking over as the Below Deck boss in Season 11, and has learned a lot since serving as the lead yachtie on the show.
Captain Kerry spoke to Bravo Insider during a pre-season interview for Below Deck Season 13, where he revealed what it’s like to work on the yachts with his crew as they film a season, including what he thinks is the biggest misconception about it.
“The biggest misconception on Below Deck is that there’s a hidden crew behind us that does all the work,” he said in our exclusive interview. “I can guarantee you there’s only one of me.”
Captain Kerry Titheradge reveals how he handles his crew’s dynamics on Below Deck
While it might be hard for Captain Kerry to manage his crew while steering the mega yacht, he told Bravo Insider that he is “very in tune” with what’s going on with them below deck when they aren’t tending to charter guests. “I’m very in tune with my crew’s emotional steadiness, nervous system,” he said. “When you’ve been doing this job as long as I have, you know when something’s up. I might not know exactly what it is, but I know something’s up.”
And while he admitted that he doesn’t partake in the rumors on the yacht, he does keep his ear to the ground. “I’m above the gossip, but I don’t mind hearing about it,” he said.

Captain Kerry Titheradge makes an admission about his personal life
Kerry continued, admitting that he has no time to pay attention to the drama surrounding the personal lives of his crew members when his own is just as unpredictable as theirs. “I don’t know about my crew, but my personal life is as turbulent as the seas,” he said.
“It’s just part of the job, and the big thing is having some compassion and patience for your crew. And if that turbulence overflows to work too much, then they need to go home and calm their own seas,” he added.

Captain Kerry Titheradge opens up about working with Fraser Olender again on Below Deck
Although Captain Kerry might have to worry about some of his crew members, he has never had to worry about working with his chief stew Fraser Olender, who he has worked alongside since Below Deck Season 11. “Working another year with Fraser was absolutely fantastic. I was so happy he could make it,” he said. “This season of Below Deck we really focused on growth and coming together, and I really felt that. And this season of Below Deck, the biggest difference with my crew is I really felt the vibe of growth.”
